Blogger Recognition Award – Acceptance and Nominations

I am super-psyched to announce that I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award!  My mind was totally blown – this is my first blogging award!   I’m a little late with this post because I have been fighting some mutant crud and my foggy brain has taken awhile to form cohesive thoughts.

I am truly  honored to have been nominated by Linda, an extremely creative, helpful and supportive person, who runs Witte’s World Blog with her husband, Fred.   Witte’s World is a place full of travel, food and fun!   In addition to writing and managing a blog, Linda has also started an active and welcoming Facebook group, For the Love of Blogging, which is a supportive community where she and other bloggers share info and ideas.

I am so thankful to have the continued support of Linda and to be part of her FB group.

The Blogger Recognition Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers who appreciates hard work and dedication to both individual blogs and the blogging community.

When nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award, there are rules to follow to accept the award and keep the circle going:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Write a post to show your award
  • Tell a brief story about how your blog began
  • Provide two pieces of advice to new bloggers
  • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
  • Leave a brief comment on each blog to let the blogger know you have nominated them, providing a link to your award post.

How Sunkissed Memories Got Its Start

I started Sunkissed Memories as a way to help promote my business as an independent consultant for a scrapbook supply business by showcasing my personal creations and, also, the company’s products and specials.  I quickly realized, however, that I had a lot of other ideas about which I wanted to write.  I love to write, and have since I was a child.  So, Sunkissed Memories became this Home/Life/DIY/Travel amalgamation.

I have a lot to learn about blogging.  There are many things I’d like to share on my blog, such as scrapbook and cardmaking how-tos, DIY, home and life hacks, wellness and travel information.  One day, I would love my corner of the interwebs to be a creative and inspirational destination, appreciated by many.

My Advice for New Bloggers

Don’t get stuck on a niche.  Don’t try to conform.  You may be passionate about many things – write about what you love.  As you write more, you’ll find what strikes a chord with readers.

Don’t be a loner.  Community is very important!  Other bloggers provide support, knowledge and connections.  Your tribe will provide advice, answer questions, and help grow your blog.  I’m still working on this myself.

My Nominees for the Blogger Recognition Award

Some of my nominees are bloggers I interact with on a regular basis, and others, while we may not interact regularly, are bloggers that I enjoy and respect.

All have inspired me in one way or another.

I also realize many of these blogs/bloggers may have been nominated for this award previously, but they have been helpful and/or supportive to me, in some way, since I began my blogging journey.

I’d like to take the opportunity, again, to thank Linda from Linda from Witte’s World for nominating me!
