Today is the first post of a new monthly feature on Sunkissed Memories blog, called “Make-It Monday”, where I plan to share craft and DIY project how-to’s. Initially, I will be posting my own projects, but eventually, I hope to include guest posts, as well. I hope you enjoy it!

I love making my own scrapbook embellishments – it may take a bit more time but I have something unique and not off-the-rack at the craft store. As a scrapbooker, I have a bad habit of hoarding scraps of patterned paper and colored cardstock.

These cute clip embellies can be used in a variety of ways; they can embellish photos in a scrapbook, call attention to journal or planner pages, mark your place in a book or magazine, or add a magnet and use to hang notes or pictures on metal surfaces. 

I use a variety of punches and colored cardstock when making my clips.  I also stamped and punched a bunch of small images (with a 1″ punch).  I keep my punched pieces and stamped images, with the paperclips and glue dots in a “clip kit” so I can whip up a few embellishments whenever the mood strikes.

Making Clip Embellies

Paperclips, stamped images, and permanent glue dots and 1″, 1.5″ punched circles and 2″ punched scallops

To make the clip in this sample, I used a 1″ circle (pre-stamped), 2- 1.5″ punched cardstock circles, 1 paperclip and 3 glue dots

Using 1 glue dot, I attached the 1″ circle to one of the 1.5″ circles.

Using another glue dot, I attached the 1.5″ circle to the paperclip.

Then I attach another glue dot to the back of the paperclip,

and stick the second 1.5″ circle to the back to finish the look.

Ways to Use Clip Embellies

You can also use stickers other store-bought decorations to create clip embellies.

I used adorable 3D adhesive stickers from the craft store to make these embellishments for fellow scrapbook friends.
