What Makes Me Happy – 2018 Edition

Day 3 of the 31 Days of December Blog Challenge from Witte’s World has me writing about what has made me happy this year.

Top on my list, every minute of every day of every year is my husband.  I have been in love with him since we first met, over 30 years ago.  While life’s path may have taken us in separate directions for a time, we were eventually led back to one another.  Sappy?  Maybe.  Do I care?  Nope.  I’m happy!  He is all I’ve wanted and I all I need.

My siblings and I are blessed to have our 88 year-old mother in our lives, relatively healthy and able to live in her own home on her own terms.

I am lucky to have wonderful in-laws with whom I get along and enjoy spending time.  It really makes holidays a lot happier.  My mother-in-law and sister-in-law introduced me to scrapbooking, and we have spent many fun-filled weekends away, together.

Our furry kids, while they sometimes drive me crazy, also bring me joy…especially when they want to snuggle.

Those are things that make me happy every year, not just in 2018.

But, something did happen specifically in 2018 that made my husband and me both happy – he reached an age where he is eligible for early retirement from his current employer.  This makes it possible for us to move from someplace cold to someplace warm, and opens up new opportunities for us both.  We are planning and looking forward to new adventures together.
